Solo Music Festival Guidelines
CAPMT Orange County is pleased to present the Summer Celebration Solo Music Festival, a welcoming performance opportunity designed to encourage students to gain confidence, develop stage experience, and share their musical achievements in a supportive environment.

Venue
Newport Harbor Lutheran Church, 798 Dover Drive, Newport Beach, CA 92663
Eligibility
• Open to piano students of all ages (up to 18) and levels.
• Students may enter either the Classical Division or the Popular Music Division.
• One entry per student.
Divisions
Classical Division
Repertoire may include works from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic, and Contemporary periods.
Popular Music Division
Repertoire may include jazz, musical theater, film music, video game music, arrangements, original compositions, and improvisation.
Age Categories
• 7 & Under
• 8–9
• 10–11
• 12–13
• 14–15
• 16–18
Age is determined as of Event date, August 29, 2026.
Performance Requirements
• One memorized solo piece
• Maximum performance time: 5 minutes
• Repeats are optional unless essential to the composition
• An original score must be available for the adjudicator upon request
Time Limit Policy
Performances are limited to 5 minutes. If a performance exceeds the time limit, the adjudicator may stop the performance at the 5-minute mark. This will not affect the student’s evaluation or award placement.
Adjudication
Participants will receive:
• Written adjudicator comments
• Certificate of Participation
Adjudicators will evaluate:
• Accuracy and fluency
• Tone quality and technique
• Musicality and interpretation
• Style and artistic communication
• Stage presence and performance preparation
Awards
First Place, Second Place, and Third Place awards will be presented in each age category and division.
Application Fees
• $50 — CAPMT Orange County Members
• $60 — CAPMT Members from Other Branches
• $70 — Non-CAPMT Members
Application fees are non-refundable.
