Bach Piano Competition
Bach Piano Competition is a CAPMT Orange County Chapter event. Started in 2017, it fosters highly motivated students who have mastered Baroque interpretation, particularly the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Correct stylistic performance is expected, including ornaments, standard articulation, and touch according to the Baroque period. The repertoire must follow the guidelines according to the categories, without exceptions.
The competition consists of two groups: partial works and complete works. The partial works are divided according to the type of work, meaning sinfonias or suites. The complete works are divided between shorter and longer groups. There is also a section for other baroque composers such as Scarlatti and Soler. The participants may choose to compete in any or more than one category independently of their age.
Winners will be invited to perform one piece selected by the judge in the Winners’ Concert.
